Java nee Vanessa

My name is Renee and along with my partner, John, we adopted “Vanessa” back in November. It’s been about 4 months since then, and I thought I would send you an update as to how she is doing.

Vanessa was renamed Java and is doing great! She is now 6 months old and weighs 45lbs already…we think she will be a big girl when done growing! She is such a joy to have around the house – her temperament is just super – she is great with all animals, kids and other adults. She’s now in her second week of dog obedience and is quickly learning how to heel and come when called. She already knows how to sit, lie down, and stay.

Java comes with us just about everywhere. We live in Midland which is a very dog friendly community. She’s known by name at the beer store, bank and many other shops around town. She’s making tons of friends at the local dog park (we go a couple of times a week) and loves the walks at the different parks and wooded areas around town. We just want to thank you again for allowing us to give Java a home. She is such a delight to have around and we’re looking forward to the years ahead with her too. The Burlington Humane Society does great work and Java is a wonderful example of the animals that come from there.

I've enclosed a few shots taken over the past few months of her.

Thank you again...

Renee Brussaard and John Steel.

Midland ON

Keeper nee Ethel

Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know Kepper is doing great. She is a gangly teenager now and everyone just loves her. Spence, my other rescue is absolutely smitten. She fit in right from day one and has been the perfect addition to the family. So smart, gentle and sweet and growing everyday! I would love to see pic's of her sisters and brother, so to Lucy, Freddy and Ricky's parents if you can let us know how they are!

Thank you to everyone again!

Nancy

George nee Kris

Hello, I thought that you might like a picture of George. Do you think he is comfortable in his new home?

David

Demero

Ah, Demero. A cat of many names. When we adopted him we changed his name from Demaro to Bentley. Then back to Demaro, but he is also known as Hal Gill. (After Hal Gill from the Montreal Canadiens) We found out Demero had a kidney problem but with his special diet it’s all good. Demero and Sarah (our other cat we adopted a while ago, she is a snooty calico) fight sometimes but at the end of the day you find them curled up on the bed together. Demero is known for looking wide eyed at random times. He also loves to eat! (Though he only gets his food and some treats.) You walk into the kitchen, open a cupboard and Demero is there. He is looking a lot better than when we first got him. I guess watching Sarah, the grooming freak, he learned how to groom himself. He also seems to be “more cat” then when he first arrived. His favourite thing to do is curl up on the Montreal Canadiens’ blanket on the living room couch. Whenever there is hockey on, Demero is always there. He is a handsome boy and we was a great addition to this family.

Emma nee Caroline

On September.26th/09 our family adopted a beagle cross puppy from the B.H.S. You referred to her as 'Caroline' (or P3...puppy #3 i think). Her name now is Emma (nicknamed our little M&M because she's sweet). She's about to celebrate her 7 month birthday & we wanted to give you an update on how she is doing. Emma knows how to shake a paw (both paws), high five, lye down, back up, sit, & roll over & NO!. She was also spayed & the surgery went very well (she's cute when shes drowsy). She is now better with having her nails trimmed & filed without having to be restrained, & she is allowed to be loose in the bedroom at night time without any accidents in over 3 months. Attached is some pictures of what she looks like now (still cute as a button), she is a little over 25 pounds & still growing. Thanks for giving us our little Emma-nem, we love her so much we don't remember what it was like without her around.

Sincerely, Michelle & Jim

Maggie Beans nee Laverne

Hi Folks! Thank you so much for being so helpful in adopting ‘Laverne’, now Maggie Beans! She’s been doing wonderfully! The only issues we’ve had are housetraining and teething which haven’t been a biggie. She ate a couple of doggie beds her first week but she’s got lots of other things to chew now that keep those little teeth occupied. We didn’t see our cats for three days when she arrived-we thought one had escaped! But now they are doing well tolerating her and she only pesters them occasionally for her own amusement. They have claws and can put her in her place if need be. Our big ol’ boy, Max, is used to her now but was a little jealous the first couple of weeks. Now he’s being a good big brother! Maggie is a joy every day and is loved, loved, loved! We think she’s grown a little bit but not much. She’s never alone more than two-three hours and spends lots of time outside and goes for two long walks a day in the park behind the house. I wish I had video recorded her in the snow the other day for you to see-she went nuts!!! We had friends visit with three other dogs and she was very social and well-adjusted. We just can’t conceive that someone wanted to give up this wonderful little girl. We feel very blessed. Now it’s walk time so I must get my boots on and bags in my pocket! I think you’ll enjoy the photos, a photographer friend took them the first night we had her.

Thanks once again! You are all doing a wonderful job!!!

Kind Regards.

Peter and Shayne

Blue nee Tigger

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Tigger. We changed his name to Blue. He is now 5.5 months and is already 60 pounds. He's going to be a big boy. He finished his first Obedience class last week and passed with flying colors. He is a very gentle dog. Great with kids and other dogs. We love him very much. Thankyou for bringing us together.

Pam

Rocky

I adopted Rocky on January 2nd, 2010. He was shy at first but it did not take him long to break out of his shell. Rocky is doing great! He loves to go for walks and is having fun at Puppy School! He loves to play with anything he can get his paws on including my cat and his now best friend Tucker and my boyfriend's Miniature Schnauzer Tyson. He is a wonderful addition to our family and we are having so much fun watching him grow!

I have attached a few pictures for you to chose from!

Coco (nee Chocolate Chip)

Again, thank-you for all your help! It took about 2 days for "Coco"/formerly "Chocolate Chip" to settle in. Now her and "Toby" are the best of friends. We still can't believe that no one adopted Coco sooner! She has an amazing temperament and is so affectionate. She loves to play and her and Toby have some rough wrestling matches. We were worried that Toby would be a bully and intimidate her, not so! She gives it right back to him and is the aggressive one most times.

Thank you for all your help! Ross & Ruth Richardson and the matching book ends Coco/formly "Chocolate Chip" and Toby/formly "Sher Khan"

Stanley (nee Pushpa)

We thought we’d send a little up-date on our “Stanley”. We adopted Stanley in November after he chose us as “his people” at the shelter!! We instantly knew Stanley was the kitty for us when we saw how full of energy and mischeivious he was with his siblings….hopping on their heads and nibbling on their ears. We thought the time had come to introduce another cat to our home. Our resident cat, Lola, begged to differ. There was a period of adjustment (overturned lamps, high speed chases and strange noises at all hours of the night!!) Thank goodness this only lasted a short time. Stan and Lola are quite the team now. When Lola (the wife) speaks and Stan (the husband) does what he’s told …….all remains happy and peaceful J . We are so happy that we stopped by the Shelter that day in November! Stanley is a terrific addition to our family. He’s always happy to sit on your lap (or sleep on your head). He’s a chatty little fellow that enjoys playing fetch for hours on end. Crinkle balls are his favourite. We’re attaching a picture of our furry friends (Lola is the tortoiseshell and Stanley is black).

Thank you to everyone at the shelter that took such good care of Stanley before we welcomed him to our home……you guys are the best. Tami, Rob & Morgan (Lola too!!!!)

Scotch (nee Kringle)

We adopted Kringle on January 10th, 2010. When he came home for the first time, he was very shy and untrusting. But just 3 short weeks later, at only 12 weeks old, he has come full circle. He's come to be very energetic, playful, and has already mastered basic commands like "sit", "stay", and "come". He is a free-spirited and fun-loving pup who has fully embraced being the newest member of our family.

Sammy (nee Cubby)

I would like to thank all of you for taking such good care of me. I became what I am because of all the wonderful treatment I received in your care.

Meeting my new family was so exciting for all of us… Until, Julia (21) said, Cubby is a nice name for a kitten but it may not cut it when he grows into that long tail of his. Then, for the rest of the evening all these names were flying around the room and finally they all agreed that I looked and acted like a ``Sammy``. So, Sam I am…

My family ADORES me. They seem to think I’m smart because I am very alert and once in a while I stare at the TV. I even heard Lisa say that I must have been reincarnated from a gentle smart man to a cat. Richard (15) noticed I like music because every time he puts music on his computer, I go check it out and I’m not afraid of his guitars. The boss Gary, thinks I`m pretty special too… Life is good for me here. I am free to sleep in any bed I want and, I play and purr all day long. C`est la vie, PURRR!!!

The whole family sends their thanks and best wishes to all of you…

-Sammy (Cubby)

Motley (nee Fernando)

I adopted Motley (formerly known as Fernando) a couple of months ago, and have fallen in love. He was named after the band Motleycrue and the name has suited him more than I could have ever predicted! One minute he is flying through the house playfully terrorizing everyone in his way and the next he is the ultimate ladies man, kissing my nose and trying to get under the covers. He is the perfect type of cat for myself and for my family, and we are all enjoying watching him grow into the handsome cat we know he will be!

-Caitlyn

Jazz

Jazz was a little nervous when she first adopted us, but she made herself quite at home when she discovered the birds and the squirrels at the bird feeder. She spends hours at the window watching them. Her favourite spot in the house is at the end of the sofa where she can get a good look outside between naps. When the cold weather arrived she discovered the comfort of a warm spot in front of the fireplace after hours of bird-watching. The people in Jazz's house are still getting to know her and her ways - and vice-versa - and we're all happy to be together.

-Lynn & Burd

Sophie (nee China)

We adopted China, who we now call "Sophie" back in July. We weren't sure how our other two kitties would feel about sharing their home with a girl.

Both cats were terrified of her but Sophie didn't give up on them. She kept trying to engage them in tail chasing, head butts and running full speed on two hind legs. She eventually won over our Maine coon and they're now great friends. As for out other furry guy, he knows she's here to stay and he is accepting that he is her new "play toy" and even appears to enjoy it every so often.

We want to thank everyone at Burlington Humane Society for caring so much about the health and welfare of all the animals who are in their temporary care until they find their "forever homes"

-Alexandra & Brian

Findley (nee Rambo)

I thought I would let you know how Rambo (now Findley) is doing. I started my search for a pet on December 28 - I took a look at all of the wonderful pets at BHS, but from the start Rambo pulled on my heartstrings. After taking a day to contemplate, I came back to the shelter on December 30 and adopted Rambo. It's the best decision I could have made as he is a very special cat (as you all told me). As you can see, he has already made himself quite at home (as you can see by the photos!) and has found his favourite spots in the apartment (I've permanently lost one of my chairs to him already!)

Everyone in my family is very anxious to meet him - and his grandmother already spoils him! Thanks so much for looking after Rambo until we found each other.

-Darlene

Sarah

The following poem is dedicated to Sarah who passed alittle more than a year ago. I don't believe there could be a greater success story. She was adopted by the Robinson family over ten years ago through Burlington Animal Aid and quickly became an essential part of the family. She attended many Pooch Promenades always willing to support the cause and give back when she could. She enjoyed a good life, a chance that she would never have had without the help of your shelter and volunteers that were working so hard even way back then. She is sadly missed at this time of year, but remembered fondly forever.

Be them young or be them old

in days long past or those untold

They help us through the lonely times

Make us laugh, and sometimes cry

In this life where friends may be few

We may never find a heart so true

as the one that beats within their chest

until the day when they must rest

Our fine furry four legged friends

Give us love until the end

-Thank you all from the Robinson and the Lizotte families

Ranger

Just wanted to let you know that Ranger has fit right in with everyone. He is full of energy and he likes to torment our visiting dog (my daughter’s) but I think he has fit in quite well and there is a great loving relationship between everyone in our home and Ranger.

Thanks for keeping him for us.

-Bob & Donna

Henry (nee O'Henry)

I just wanted to update you on Henry (formerly O’Henry). As you can see from the photo, Henry has had a difficult time adjusting to his new home (just kidding!). From the moment he arrived at this new home Henry has quickly settled in! It didn’t take long for him to find his favourite places, whether it is a spot in the warm sun or on a soft bed. As time has passed the playful side of Henry has definitely surfaced! It was just a matter of finding the right toy. While Henry may sleep away most of his day, as cats like to do, he is always running to the door to greet me upon arrival. Thanks to everybody at the BHS for the great work that you do.

-Marcus

Hunter

Hunter is a great dog and is adjusting very well. Just a quick note and a few pics to let you all know that my family is really enjoying Hunter and, he seems not to mind us too much either. He is a great boy, and has now completed his obedience training, so he now is handsome and well mannered. We are so happy, we found him through your web page and couldn't imagine life without him, Keep up all your good work!

-Glen & Family

Roxy (nee Grace)

She has been an absolutely wonderful addition to our family and we are just so happy to share these recent photos taken of Roxy.

Best wishes and happy holidays to you all.

Cheers,

- Rob & Stephanie

George (nee Kris)

I want to thank everyone for looking after me so well and for finding me such a good home. I am treated very well.

Healthwise I am doing a little better. I am tapering off the Prednisone and am trying out some special food. It tastes good but the Kitty Treats taste better.

Last Friday we had a party and I stayed and entertained all the girls. It was a tough job but someone had to do it. As you can see from the picture, I am now catching up on my rest.

I'll ask David to send you another letter soon.

-Kris (and David)

Chessie

Chessie is a wonderful dog and companion--she is very well behaved, active and healthy. She loves the backyard and lots of walks and has already gained 3lbs.

-Lorne

Bosley (nee Charlie)

I just wanted to give you an update on Charlie (name is now Bosley) He is doing well. He is energetic and a lot to handle but it currently going through training and is learning. He has mastered sit and lie down and is getting better at coming when called. He gets along with everyone, and he loves children and plays very nicely with them. He and our cat are ok with each other, he wants to play but she puts him in his place. He is a work in progress but we love him and are happy we decided to make him a part of our family. Thanks again.

- Cheyenne & Jamie

Lily (nee Coral)

Attached is a photo of Lily (formerly Coral). We adopted Miss Lily on Sept 30/09. She was in the last cage I looked into and she just seemed to say, "take me home" So we did!! Within a day she was cozy and happy with us, and she accepted our friendly yellow lab, Charlie, as a housemate too. Lily stays indoors and watches the birds and chipmunks from an upstairs window. Lily loves to be brushed and petted. She is very playful and chases toys up and down the hallways. And she sleeps on our bed and purrs! She's very chatty too! Lily is two and the most perfect addition to our household. Thank you Burlingon Humane Society.

- Joanne

Harley (nee Moppet)

HI - just want to up date you on Harley. He is very happy in his new home and we love him to bit's. His favorite toys are lights and shadows - so he amused himself and us for hours. He gets along famously with our older pets Bowie (dog) and Jaz(cat). While still concerned with food, he respects his place in line and always lets Jaz go first. He is huggable and lovable running to the door to greet us as soon as he hears the key in the door, looking to get picked up and hugged. He is a wonderful addition to our family.

- Thank-you for rescuing him and thank you Harley for picking me as your new family!

London

We adopted London back in June. She immediately took interest in our place and eventually befriended our 9-year-old cat Ziggy. They are now very good friends. London is very high energy and loves the belly rubs. She is definitely the lap cat we were told she was. We have nicknamed her the “rocket” because she zooms around our apartment like crazy. London has really become an important part of our lives and love her tremendously. Thank you!!!!!

- Chrissy & Eric

Julia (nee Daisy)

Our family adopted Daisy this past weekend and I just thought I would give you an update. Our daughter liked the name Daisy but decided she wanted to rename her to Julia. So Daisy is now Julia. She has settled in to our home very well, she is just the most loving cat and fits into our family. Sam, our other cat, has adapted well to Julia too and last night I caught them chasing Julias new toy mouse together. Julia does love to climb and is very curious about the curtains and high cabinets and has had to be rescued twice, but we keep a good eye on her and have kept her happy and safe. I don't think she stops purring and has taken to sleeping on Sydneys bed, which was Sydneys dream.

Here is a picture of sleepy little Julia, as you can see she has found a nice plush throne to call her own, she has made herself quite comfortable which is great. We are thrilled to have her in our family.

- Kelly Anne

Boo (nee Crackle)

I am pleased to announce the newest arrival to my family. Boo (original name was crackle) was born on July 4th and came home with me at the tender age of 8 weeks old. He’s a little blurry in this picture because he didn’t want to stay still for the camera. Boo was going to be his nickname but he’s now getting used to me calling him my bubba boo so Boo it is.

His first day home he managed to find many hiding places on mommy. I found him in a drawer, in a basket and even in the hollow of a stepstool that is kept behind the toilet in the bathroom. He’s a very sneaky little guy. He didn’t speak for his first two days but found his voice just yesterday. He has been spending his time exploring his new home and is a little skittish but is slowly getting used to his new surroundings and of course his new mom.

In fact at 2am this morning Boo decided that he could jump on my bed and that the duvet was an awesome thing to play with. He spent his time walking up and down my legs and also discovered my side table with cords to a light and my cell phone. When it woke me he sat very still as if he was a statue on the table. He did look very cute but of course was removed from the area. By the third time I do believe he understand when mommy told him he couldn’t play on the table.

He is going to be taking his first real car trip this weekend and heading to Owen Sound to see his extended family. I can tell you my 3 year old niece is very excited to meet him and has even moved her precious dog that can do no wrong to her grandparents place so the dog does not scare Boo. It will be interesting to see how many hiding places Boo can find at her house.

One of my favourite things to see is when I ask him who’s the pretty boy he flips upside down on his back and wiggles his body. I love my boy.

- Cheers Hilary

Teddy (nee Binky Boo)

On August 28, we adopted Teddy (nee-Binky). Teddy was just 10 lbs the day he came home. Now, 3 weeks later he weighs 18lbs. He got his name because he looks like a little black bear with big bear paws. Teddy's a real character. He loves playing hide in seek in the gardens in his big back yard. He is very loveable and snuggly. Teddy loves meeting new people on our daily walks. He always greets us with a happy bark and a wagging tail!

- Carole

Dwayne

In August 2009 we adopted Dwayne – now known as Tigger. He has been a real joy to our house! He’s our very first furry friend. Having taken my two kids through all the rooms and visiting all the beautiful cats there, the decision was difficult to choose one, to say the least. They wanted them all!

Tigger was in one of the last rooms we visited. A spunky, crazy, 5-month old ginger kitten stole both their hearts. We took Tiggy home a couple days later, and life has never been the same since! He has full roam of the house, new toys, and all the loving he can handle – and then some. He is patient with my 6 year old’s never ending hugs, and keeps up with chasing my 10 year old up and down the stairs trying to nibble his toes or grab a bite of sock.

He sleeps on our bed at night, and is the best fly catcher bar none! I no longer worry about the flies or daddy-long-legs in the house – Tigger eats them up for breakfast! I can say that Tigger has been a wonderful addition to our family – we adore him.

- Rachel

Suzie & Brutis

So they are getting along wonderful! and are very funny !

I thought i would give you a few photos they are enjoyin life Brutis has actually lost some of his weight!

They enjoy cuddling each other on the sofa and they will groom each other, Suzie is very playful and will make you laugh watching her play. Brutis is more laid back but will get up and move with you. he also enjoys sitting in the sun relaxing while getting brushed. The two of them together is a perfect fit in our household!

- Rachel

Emma (nee Grounder)

Emma is doing extremely well, she is very happy in her new home and is getting along great with Annie.(Lotus) We enjoy listening to music and frequently watch live concert DVD's.Much to our surprise so does Emma (Grounder) as she sits on one of our speakers from our surround sound and is very content. We put blankets on each main speaker and Annie lies on one and Emma on the other.

Thank you once again to all of you for taking such great care of all the animals. Your hard work and dedication is heart-warming, and very much appreciated!

- Suzanne

Leo(nee Prince )

I just received my copy of the Tail-o-Gram today, and was so pleased to see that you published Leo's picture and Happy Endings story. Leo is truly a joy in my life. I've had him home for just over a month, and we're so closely bonded now. He's quite the little character, and it's obvious to everyone that he loves his mommy.

My girlfriend Katie just stayed at my place with Leo, while I was on holiday's, and she said she laughed the whole week, and his antics and goofiness. She's nicknamed him "Leapin Leo", cause he never walks anywhere, he just leaps from one piece of furniture to the next.

Hello and thank you" from Leo to all of the staff and volunteeers at Burlington HUmane who loved and cared for me til I found my forever home.

- Sharon

Molly (nee Princess)

It's been about three months since we adopted Molly and she is such a wonderful addition to our family. She is now just over four months old and as entertaining as ever. She's always there to help us brush our teeth by spinning in the sink chasing her tail or batting at the water coming out of the faucet. In addition to teeth brushing, she is quite interested in our "human food" and almost always hops up on the table to investigate what we're eating. She's always sure to let us know when she's hungry, and after she has been fed and has a full tummy it's always cuddle time.

She is an adorable little ball of fur and love. (Little Miss) Molly is a great addition to our family. Many thanks to the BHS and its volunteers!

- Angela

Bradley (nee Brad)

Just want to let you know that Brad is doing great and adjusted to our home and got to know Stinker immdiately.

We have since changed his name to Bradley, and he has the nick name Bradley Bear. He is very cuddly and affectionate, and has a lot of energy. His personality is quite funny. He and Stinker wrestle a little but in good fun. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to adopt such a wonderful member to our family. Jessica and I have just recently been married and look forward to our life with our little "kiddies"

- Jeremy

Pocket (nee Gala) & Kuma (nee Harry)

We adopted Pocket back in July, and being a typical kitten proved to be a bit too energetic for our resident senior cat Charlie, so a second addition (Kuma...Japanese for "Bear") was needed to serve as a playmate. The arrangement has thus far proven to be a lot of fun for everyone involved. The two are constantly playing, wrestling and grooming each other, allowing Charlie the freedom to gaze wistfully out the window without having her tail batted around like a toy. They provide a lot of joy and amusement to their owners, who are particularly impressed with Pocket's ability to stand vertically and completely unsupported on her hind quarters for up to 20 seconds at a time. Kuma has an amusing, perpetually sad face which is in stark contrast to all the fun and excitement he is having exploring the house and finding his way into containers (very fond of cardboard and rubbermaid!).

I'm no veterinarian or animal psychologist, but if faced with the problem of a younger kitten and a less-than-receptive senior cat, a suggestion might be to get a second kitten of similar age. It has worked wonders in our case.

Tango

On February 1st, I came to BHS looking for a new best friend. Having lost my previous cat (who was very special to me) to cancer in November, I had a big hole in my heart that needed to be filled.

I came to the shelter with my Dad, not knowing exactly what I was looking for in a new cat, but knowing that I would know when I saw them. We wandered into every room of cages, and met every cat. I met some very sweet cats, but I just diddn't feel that special connection with any of them.

Until we reached the last room. I was looking at a few of the cats in the room, when two empty cages were re-filled with two 5 month old cats who were being looked at by another family. The one girl cat had just been adopted, but the boy was still looking for a home. He was the last of his litter who needed to find a home.

Feeling bad for the little guy, i decided to take him out of his cage for a little snuggle. I was warned that the last family thought that he was "too shy" but I decided to see for myself. As I reached into the cage, I heard quite a rumble. Turns out the little "shy" boy had quite a purr! I put him on the floor, and sat down, expecting him to run into a corner. Instead he looked up at me with his beautiful golden eyes and crawled into my lap, purring as he got comfortable.

That was it. I knew that I had to take the special little guy home. So I signed the papers, got him settled into a cage, and home we went.

I began to get concerned when the little guy hid under a blanket the whole way home, and then wouldn't come out from under the bed without quite a bit of coaxing from my family or myself. Then I noticed that poor little Tango was sneezing and sniffling quite a bit. We took him to the vet, and it turned out that he had the cat flu! The vet sent us home with some antibiotics, and assured us that Tango would be feeling better soon. That left me with one concern: this wasn't the affectionate little cat that I had met at the shelter only a few days ago. This was a shy cat. I wanted a best friend, and I didn't want a best friend who I had to crawl under the bed to visit!

But, it turned out that Tango's shyness was completely flu- related, because once we started him on the antibiotics, Tango's personality really started to shine. He started by gracing us with the fabulous purr that I discovered at the shelter. Then he showed us what a great acrobat he is, when we played with him. Then he found his true calling: Talking. Tango is a great talker, and will talk to almost anyone. If you ask him a question, he has an answer. If you look at him, he lets you know he's looking at you too. He meows for food, for a treat, for a hug, or just to say "Hi, I'm here!".

Tango has turned into my dream cat. He loves to cuddle, loves to play, loves to talk, and can be pretty crazy at times. He also loves my Dog, Bella! They play together, and greet each other affectionately. Sometimes Tango will grab Bella's tail, if he's bored and wants her to play with him!

Thank you so much for taking the time to show me all of the cats, and not pressure me to make a decision. Also, thank you to all of the volunteers who make BHS such a great place to visit and adopt a pet from. I am so grateful to you for providing a place for me to find a forever friend! I will never have any hesitation to adopt from you again, and to tell anyone I know who is looking for a pet to visit BHS!

- Jenny

Oreo (nee Dwight)

Hi this is an update on oreo (nee dwight), he is over a year old now and doing so well, he was so shy, and sweet and gentle when he "adopted me" back in november 08, and we have been so close since, he is so wonderful and playful, and much more trusting, he has also since "adopted" a little brother coco, who is so playful and sweet, and they are best friends for life ;)

I think burlington humane society houses very gentle and sweet cats/kittens, keep up the great work!!

Kittens/Cats are very good for your health and happiness and do fill your home with so much luv

- Roberta

Ozzy & Marley

Here are some pictures of Ozzy (11 months) and Marley (9 weeks)! We adopted Ozzy last Christmas and Marley last week. They love playing and cuddling together, I'm so glad they get along and keep each other company!

Blyss

We adopted Blyss approximately four months ago and from the minute she was given to us to meet, we held her, she purred and purred and looked so sweetly into our eyes we knew she was going to be a wonderful addition to our family (you can see her brother Harley keeps watch over her). The first night in our home, she did not cry once, she simply came to bed with us and her brother - she knew she was home and she knew she was loved.

We changed her name because Bliss (changed to Blyss for purely creative reasons :) means joyful and cheerful and this little girl is all joy and cheer and this is absolutely what she brings to everyone she meets. She is unconditional in her love, if she is not certain where we are in the house, she gives a little cry and we speak to her and she comes running to be with us. We are not certain if this has anything to do with learning from her big brother, Harley, but she follows us everywhere and when we come home she comes from wherever she was to greet us and schmooze with us, she is big on kisses, both receiving and giving. As long as she is with her family, she is immensely happy. Harley is very protective of his little sister, and the hours that they spend playing together is of great entertainment, nothing like a new kitten to reignite the spark in a ten year old dog!

We continue to be amazed by her huge personality, her curiosity , her sense adventure and spirit, the first photo is Blyss on her first road trip, yes she sleeping soundly in the back seat, she very much enjoys the l car,- the photo of Blyss in the flower arrangement involved her jumping onto the mantle and then digging herself into the arrangement.

The love affair just continues on both sides.

Our experience with the Burlington Humane Society has been extremely positive and we have shared this with many friends and neighbours, in fact our neighbours visited the shelter this past weekend and adopted a little kitten, she too will be much loved.

Maggie (nee Barbie)

It's been a little over a month since I adopted Maggie (formerly Barbie) and she is doing fantastic. Although she still has her shy, timid moments, her personality is really shining through! Maggie is a chatterbox and constantly natters and chats at me night and day - I often ask her what happened to that quiet, shy little girl I adopted a month ago - what I wouldn't give for a bit of peace and quiet!

She loves to play fetch with her little foam balls - regardless of the time of night......I am often awakened at 5am to play! Maggie is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and give lots of kisses. She has had her first visit to the vet and is a healthy little girl.

Thanks to everyone at Burlington Humane for taking good care of Maggie - she is a joy to have and is absolutely one of the family!

- Anne

Stryder (nee Sparky)

Stryder (aka Sparky) has been a wonderful addition to the family. As soon as he got home, he was let out of his cage and showed no aggression to his new brother (Taltos) and vice versa. He explored for an hour and then settled in. He has been a joy to have around and he has brought me immeasurable joy already. Thank you for taking good care of him and for bringing us together.

- Claudia

Burke

My husband and I recently adopted Burke from your shelter...actually it was almost three months ago now. Sorry we didn't update you sooner.

She is doing very well. She still can get scared easily at times, but is much more comfortable in her new home. The vet says that she is an ideal weight and she has gained a little more than a kilogram since we adopted her. She has really filled out and her coat is beautiful. She is very playful and has an assortment of toys...some of which you will see in the photos.

Thank you for the opportunity to own Burke as a pet...she is awesome!!

Bonny (nee Solitaire) & Mr. Magoo (nee Scrabble)

Solitaire and Scrabble (now Bonny and Mr. Magoo) are settling in wonderfully. They run around like maniacs, and then they crash and demand their cuddles. There is never a dull moment with those two! There have been no problems with the other cats, and I often see them curled up with a new brother or sister. I'm glad I adopted them both, and did not let them be separated. Bonny is coping just fine with one eye, and Mr. Magoo's eyesight seems to be stable. Thanks to everyone who gave them and their brothers such love when they were in the isolation room and when Bonny had her operation.

Prince

I just wanted to let you all know how Prince is doing, since I adopted him on Sunday.

He adjusted so quickly to his new surroundings. He's figured out which chair is the best to sleep on - the one that the sun shines on in the afternoon. He follows me all over the condo, from room to room, as if he doesn't want to be left alone...he's like a shadow. He loves water! Loves to watch the toilet flush, likes to drink from my water glass, and wanted to get into the shower stall with me this morning (so I let him).He loves looking out our windows. We have floor to ceiling windows, and we live on the top floor, so he sees it all - birds, trains, traffic, people. He wakes me up in the morning, with kisses on the nose, the forehead, the cheeks, the eyes (ugh...cat breath)

I've changed his name a little, he is now known as "Prince Leo".

Thank you so much in assisting me in the adoption process. It was much easier than I expected it to be, even with my tears. My heart is warmed by his presence, and he is a wonderful companion! I'll send you pictures of him as I get new ones.

Cheetos (nee Randolf)

Hi. Here is a wonderful happy tail I would like to share.

This is to give hope to those who fear adopting cats with a little bit of an attitude. I adopted Cheetos (Randolf) maybe a year ago. At first despite his good looks he HAD AN ATTITUDE!! You could not even try to pet him without him swiping you with his sharp claws. No one would dare pick him up and those who tried would end up getting scratched. So needless to say he was not a cuddly cat. (although huge- we loved to look at him). But I continued to try. I would sneak a pet in as he was eating. I would entice him to lie beside me if I were to feed him treats. And over time, MIRACULOUSLY he began to change! He loves us, its obvious. I can cuddle with him for at least 7 minutes before he runs off, and anytime he loves to be pet and loved on- and if its me, Liz-his owner, he will NOT scratch at all. But unfortunately he has a long way to go- my neighbor came in to baby sit and Cheetos lovingly attacked her ankles. Well, at least he loves me. :) So please folks, If you want to see a cat find love and lose his fears, (and if you are patient and willing to keep your distance for a while) Give the scary cats a chance once and a while.

- Love a happy cat owner, Liz.

Tilly

Just thought that I would let you know we have just returned from our summer camping trip in Algonquin Park - Tilly had a blast! She and her " big sister " Emmy spent the week boating, assisting in the location and catching of fish, hiking, swimming and rolling in every patch of sand and grass possible. The 'girls' had such busy days that they missed most of the campfires at night - they were too pooped to party! Tilly is coming to her 1 year anniversary with us and we can not imagine life without her!

Smudge (nee Iris)

We adopted Smudge (nee Iris) a little over a week ago (July 09) and we’re ecstatic to have her! She’s a curious kitten and is fascinated by our ceiling fans, as well as trying to figure out how to get on the dining table. It won’t be long before she finds her way on to the kitchen counter, I’m sure! She’s a quick little pussy cat so we need to have our wits about us when coming and going, but her kitten antics give us hours of entertainment! She gets lots of play time with a scratching post, some cardboard boxes with cut outs to jump through, balls and empty paper towel rolls to chase.

She has free run of the house but she’s already picked her favourite places to relax. She loves to lay in our front bay window where she can bask in the sun and watch the world go by. She also likes to sit in front of the sliding door by the floor vent when she wants to cool off. But by far the best is the really wide arms of the sofa, where she stretches out and is almost hidden behind the cushions. She’s already figured out how to use this as her jumping off point when she is ready to pounce! She’s a ball of energy that keeps us on our toes but she’s also a really great cuddler! She snuggles on the couch, curling up on your chest or sitting on your shoulder with her paws over the back of the couch so she can still look out the window, and of course she snuggles right up at bedtime too!

She’s already had her first trip to the cottage, which was a whole new world of sights, sounds, people and hiding places and is getting the hang of being on a leash and harness. We thought she had become an escape artist when she was last seen in the cottage, but then was nowhere to be found inside. Turns out she had found herself a comfy spot on the lower bunk bed, hidden by piles of cushions, apparently a favourite place of many of her feline predecessors! Her curiosity almost got the better of her when she checked out the bathtub only to discover she’s not a big fan of water. She’s cemented her place in the hearts of a family of cat lovers, providing entertainment to our little niece (who calls her mudge because she can’t pronounce S’s yet), curling up on Grandpa’s chair at the table and just by being a cute kitty! Thanks to all of you at BHS for taking care of her until we could find her and become her forever home! We’re looking forward to years of amusement, snuggles and joy from this great girl!

Stuart (nee Dewey)

We just wanted to send you a quick little note with an update on Dewey, who we adopted on July 8th.

We have renamed him Stuart, and he quickly became an integral part of our family! Our cat Callie (who was also adopted from you) was quick to adapt to her new little brother, and they are now sharing window seats and toys as though they have always been together! Stuart has brought tremendous fun into our daily lives - who would have thought there would be so much excitement in stealing pens, attacking our feet, and sneaking bits of our food! Thank you so much for letting us adopt him...there is truly no greater joy than a kitten purring in your lap!

- Stephanie, Brent and Audrey.....and Callie ;)

Gabe & Gracie

Just to further update you on the cats we adopted from you. We renamed Gabe to Oscar. Our daughter found that when she went home after visiting us she missed having a cat to greet her at the door, and a cat to sleep on her bed, so she went to the Kitchener Humane Society and is now the proud owner of Sampson - a young male cat. About 10 weeks after we adopted our cats my husband lost his job. The cats have been tremendous stress-busters They both dote on him. Gracie follows him everywhere and makes sure he is well groomed - I'm sure her tongue would take the grit off 50-grit sandpaper so it does a great job of exfoliating his hands and arms! When he swings his feet off the bed in the morning, there is Gracie weaving around and around his legs and he has to keep his feet under the covers at night or he wakes to the feel of Gracie licking his feet! (I'm not sure who I pity more - him or the cat).

Oscar goes up to his office around 10:00 every morning for a prolonged head-butting and tummy-rubbing session and frequently falls asleep behind or under his chair. Oscar also likes to be lifted onto my lap when I'm on the computer and he rests his front paws and head on my right wrist trying to go to sleep. It makes using the keyboard or mouse very difficult! He loves my aquarium screensaver. On the more active side, Oscar loves to "catch" scrunched-up balls of paper. He leaps 3 feet in the air, does a 360 degree turn and brings it down. Very few pieces of paper make it past him - he'd be a great goal-keeper for Manchester United!

I know that in these trying economic times many people would be reluctant to adopt a new pet, but we both say that we got them at exactly the right time. Their antics make us laugh, their affection for each other makes us smile, and their affection for us warms our hearts and relieves mountains of stress. We're so glad we got them.

- Lynda

Petra (nee Pewter)

I am finally sending a note to update everyone on Pewter (now Petra). I agreed to foster Pewter in March, since she was having some problems with diarrhea and had been returned by her first adopted family for that reason. She was a particular favourite of mine and most of the other volunteers at BHS. Within a week or two she had no problems at all and I was able to take her off of her medication. She wasn't in the least intimidated by my other cats and quickly made herself at home. She now runs and plays with the others and has started to lose the weight she had gained so mysteriously. She loves to give me "facials" with her tongue, and to roam through the ornamental grass outside (on a leash of course). She is a very special girl.

- Sandra

Gaffer (nee Puzzle)

I just wanted to let you guys know that Puzzle is doing great, I think we made a wonderful choice by adopting him. We have changed his name to Gaffer ( eye patch wearing cat from the Muppet Show) His full name is Captin Gaffer Mullah Omar Fluffingtons.

He is totally shameless when it come to attention and affection! He is very active and makes us laugh everyday. When not rolling around, begging for a belly rub, he is playing with his crochet mouse or chasing a ball.

Gaffer and Basker (our dog) are doing well together. We have been slowly introducing them. Yesterday they were both on leash in the same room, and much to our suprise they both layed down and just watched each other. Basker is very interested in the new smells. Gaffer didn't protest when Basker gave him 2 (rather large) licks on his face.

Gaffer's scar is healing nicely and he eats like a champ, although I need to refill his water very frequently as he plays in it. He slaps his paw in it and sprays it everywhere. I thought cats didn't like water? We trimmed his nails and was very good. The patch of shorter fur on his back is barely noticable now. You would never know he had the start to life that he did.

Thanks again for letting us adopt Gaffer, he is a truly wonderful cat and a great addition to our family. Although I am a bit upset that I am the only girl in a house with 4 boys!

Bear (nee Peter) & Casper

Hello... This is Sarah and Steve

Peter and Casper's new parents. Peter's name has been changed to Bear. I just wanted to send you some pictures of the kitties. I know they where well loved by everyone at the Burlington Humane Society and they are even more loved here. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped to make their lives better. They are the most amazing animals iv even seen. They are so strong and very loving. We have both never been happier. They are both doing very well! They eat, sleep and play together everyday and we are unable to keep them apart. You can tell they both love each other very much.

- Sarah & Steve

Jenna

I arrived at my new home about 5:30 PM, and by 5:45 had made sure that Katy (German Shepherd) knew who was going to be boss girl. My new mom and dad let me explore the whole house, after showing me where the litter box was. The routine here is different than at the shelter. My mom and dad are home all evening and night, then go to work in the morning. Mom left me in charge of the house today, and the dog was outside in her run. I ate and drank a little bit during the day, and should settle in soon.

I miss you all, and thanks for taking such good care of me.

NEW UPDATE: Just wanted to drop you a line, and give you the news that I have settled in to my new home. Mom took me to my first weigh-in of the Chub Club, and I'm proud to say that I have lost .8 lb, and am now down to 17.2 lb. The Vet techs love me, and say I am doing fine.

I will send pictures as soon as Mom takes some good ones.

- Sarah & Steve

Lucy (nee Sunflower)

I was looking for a companion for Lily and hadn't been successful in finding another cat that not only matched for her personality, but mine as well.

Then I came to the shelter and found Lucy (Sunflower) a week ago and everything fell into place. She's a firecracker that runs around on her own, or chases Lily over and under the furniture. And when they both get tired out, they curl up together in a comfortable spot.

We also like to keep up to date on who has been adopted and who is still waiting.

- Jennifer

Crosby

We adopted Crosby in January 2009, and he has been a great addition to our family. He certainly has a lot of energy. He likes to dig in the plants, play on all the furniture(don’t worry, it’s covered), and pounce on Oliver our other adopted Cat. He is so cute, you have to forgive any mischief he can get into.

He is pictured here, in one of his quieter moments with Oliver.

Thank you Burlington Humane Society.

- Edward & Darlene

Marley(nee Ronnie)

Just a little note from Ronnie thanking Joanne and Jerry for adopting me. I have moved into the Hilton and have taken over the place. My new name is Marley. They put new floors in just for me, I play hockey with all my new toys. I even get to go on Holidays, camping in Haliburton. My new family have a trailer up there. I will be able to see all the wild life running around out of the windows.

So glad to see my brother Zackery was adopted also. Hope he has just has much fun that I am having with my new family.

- Joanne Jerry and Marley

Pyper(nee Chica)

Here are a few picture of Pyper (nee Chica) and our other cat Zoey. Pyper was adopted in January of this year.

We brought Pyper home and did isololation training for about a week. There was some hissing and fighting to begin with, but that soon subsided and now the two are best friends. They follow each other around the house, and it's not uncommon to hear one "calling" the other one from various rooms in the house when they aren't together.

Life with Phineas

Mom says that she told me I was getting a new brother, but I don’t remember! I must have been busy cleaning my fur or dreaming of mice. So, you can imagine the surprise when she got home one day with a small grey striped thing and announced that this was my new “little brother”! “Brother….I don’t think so!”. It all seems so long ago now. He quickly moved in and started to play with my toys, eat my food (even though he had his own), and sleep in my favourite spots. Mom said he was born in a foster home, but he was a pretty “street smart” kitty let me tell you. From day one he began what I refer to as the “campaign of cuteness” to push me out of my “# 1 spot”. First he fell in the toilet, and then he got stuck in the chimenea. He would give Mom a kiss on the tip of her nose and then fall asleep in her arms! Now what can a 9 year old grump do to combat this I ask? I talk a little, sleep in the bathroom sink, and make an attempt to open my treat jar with my paws. I always thought that was pretty good up until now! Life got even worse when we were dragged out at Christmas to have pictures taken with someone called “Santa”! This had never happened before. What was Mom thinking! Of course Phineas looked just adorable, whereas as I somehow managed to get squashed under the red guys arm, ending up looking the same size as Phineas (oh the shame)! Mom tells me that when Phineas gets neutered he will “slow down”! I hope so as I am fed up of playing Northern Dancer to his Willie Shoemaker. Life isn’t really as bad as I make out. We got a great tree house to play in. I get a ton of exercise which is helping me lose the weight I have gained “nibbling” on his kitten food and I have company when Mom is at work. Anyway….got to go. Phineas is off somewhere and has vacated his spot at the top of the tree house!!!!

- George the Cat with some help from Maxine

Maxwell (nee Goofy) and Jasper (nee Dimples)

We adopted Maxwell (nee Goofy) and Jasper (nee Dimples) a couple of weeks ago. When they arrived home, we kept them in a spare bedroom while they adjusted to their new surroundings. After a couple of hours, we let them out of the room and Jasper managed to power-sniff the entire house within 15 minutes with Maxwell close by his side. They decided they needed a rest after the ordeal of the drive home and settled on the sofa together. These two boys are very bonded! They sleep, wrestle and eat together. They both love to be brushed, cuddled and they're both real lapcats.

We couldn't have imagined two more wonderful cats to give us such joy after losing our Oliver last fall.

Thank-you for all the incredible effort and care you put into helping animals find happy homes.

- Susan Mc.

Lulu (nee Pippin)

Even though it has only been a little over 2 weeks, we thought you might like to see how our little Lulu is doing. She has changed quit a bit since her first photo. As you can clearly see, she is being spoiled! She is an incredibly smart girl. So far, she comes when called, sits and is very close to being house trained, and walks very well on a leash. We just adore her. She has formed an incredibly strong bond with our 7 year old daughter. They just enjoy hanging out together and playing with her stuffed lamb. Lulu is learning to respect cats rather quickly as our 3 are showing her the ropes.

We found Burlington Humane a wonderful place, the staff was very helpful - they even found us a crate, when they heard us discussing having to purchase one! We are looking forward to the years to come with our Lulu! Thank you.

- Lori, John & Alora

Julius (nee Ike)

My mom and I came to the Burlington Humane Society looking for a female cat and females we did see. In fact one female stole our hearts but due to some mitigating circumstances it was not to be. So on week two we were back and lo and behold a dark gray, yellowed eye male said Meow from his cage and that was it. "Would you like hold him?" we were asked. My mother said yes and the rest is history.

We didn’t pick Julius he picked us. He snuggled with my mom from the word go and from then on he was ours. He conquered our hearts and now our home-his Forever home!

Julius is still getting used to things and is a very vocal on things from food to snuggles. We love him deeply and find him to be a precious boy. I don’t know why Julius was given up but in many ways I am glad he was for now he found us and we have a beautiful cat in our home for many years to come.

We would like to say a special thank you to all the volunteers who not only do a terrific job but a worthwhile one too!

Thanks Burlington Humane Society!

- Dawn Rose and her daughter Sam M

Emma (nee Gracie) & Maggie (nee Jive)

We adopted Emma and Maggie ( aka Gracie and Jive) on January 25th. I hope you can see from this picture how well they get along.

Emma, the calico hasn't let us pick her up as yet but she is getting more trusting each day, allowing us to pet her occasionally.

Maggie, the grey diluted torti is full of life, extremely tolerant and loves be held and petted.

- Many thanks, Dorothy Pike

Gary & Tonks

My daughter wanted a cat last fall so we came down and she fell in love with 'Tonks', 2 weeks later I came down and found 'Gary'.

When they aren't sleeping, they are tearing back and forth, chasing each other around the house

- Jessica & Bob

Jimmy (nee Dean)

Here are a couple of photos of wee Jimmy[formerly Dean] totally at home with his new family. Adopted March 12th..

- Bill

Gabe & Gracie

Life is really "hard" here - we had to share the bed :-)

In reality... The have settled in very well. Gracie may have seemed the shy, quiet, reserved one; definitely not so!

On the first night the plan was they spent the night "confined" in the bathroom where the litter tray is. We put in their bed & feed & water. They didn't think much of that and were somewhat vocal about it. Out 20 year old son said it's not fair so we said in that case they can sleep in you room. He complained that he didn't sleep as they wouldn't let him have any of the bed.

The photo is them on our daughters bed (she was with us when we adopted them). She lives in Kitchener and was here for the weekend. When she got back her boyfriend suggested she had left something back at home.

- Lynda & Graham

Darla

Darla did not only find her forever home, she found a forever sister! Raven from the Oakville Humane. Both are very loved and we are very blessed to have found them.

Thank you so very much!

- Patti and Francois

Leo (nee Hart)

I fell in love with Hart, now called Leo, when volunteering at BHS in January 2009. He was huge and cuddly and quite a character. It was not the greatest time to adopt a third cat, since my floors were being refinished and I was sleeping on a cot in the basement, but I couldn’t risk someone else adopting him! At first I was a little worried about how well Leo would get along with Calie and Sammie, my thirteen year old guy and three year old girl. He is over twice Sammie’s weight and decided that pouncing on her was great fun. But it has all gone very well and they are now friends. I bought him an extra large bed and made room for it in the living room window so he is no longer squeezing himself into their beds! I had a hard time picking out a name. My brother suggested I call him TNC or Teencie, short for The New Cat, due to his size and the fact that I called him The New Cat for about two weeks! My family is convinced I will soon have a dozen or so cats but hopefully I will know when to stop! They are all different in their own way and they all give me great joy.

- Sandra

Dexter (nee Pierce)

I just wanted to send you all an update on my new family member! His name is Dexter (now), however, I believe you know him as Pierce! He is a fantastic dog! I can't even express to you how much he has superseded my expectations from an adopted little guy! In 7 days (to date) he has not eaten anything I'd rather he didn't... or, destroyed ANYTHING (even though some potentially "chewable" things may have been left out), or even had an accident whilst left at home! He is unbelievably a perfect companion who is right for my life style, and who compliments traits in me! Thank you all for helping him and helping me to find him. Your efforts definitely don't go unnoticed and ABSOLUTELY do not go unappreciated!!!

- Mat & Dexter

Bella (nee Adobe / Amy)

Here is a picture of Bella, who we adopted in September 2008. After a rocky start, her and her big brother Buster (adopted in March of 2008) are now best friends. They like to play, eat, and snuggle together.

Our golden retriever, Molson, even gets in on the action when they let him!!

Thank you for all your help with our adoptions. These are the nicest cats most people have ever met!

- Sara

Pixel and Bit (nee Sweet Marie and Mirage)

We thought it would be nice to give you an update on us. Our mommy’s a big computer geek so we got renamed to Pixel and Bit, and boy do we like to keep her busy, maybe we should have been named after racecar drivers instead. We get lots of play and cuddle time and in return give lots of purrs and licks to show our appreciation for this wonderful home. We even get along with a dog! We had mild UTI’s so mom would run the shower for us to steam the room up, here’s a picture of us hanging out in the bathroom.

- Pixel & Bit (and Kathleen)

Lacey

Lacey has found a loving home where she is spoiled with affection. She loves to play and be groomed daily. She is a joyful addition to the family. We thank the BHS for all their help in finding a loving companion.

- Thanks!

Buster

Thank you so much for recommending BUSTER to us two weeks before christmas. He is doing wonderful. He first was shy when we brought him home, but he found the right room to stay in to feel at home.He Sleeps during the day and is awake and Very playful at night. Now he explores more and gets used to the hole family more and more each day. BUSTER is a well trained cat. We did not have to teach him to use his litter box, He also knows where to scratch to keep his nails nice and groomed. Oh boy, you were so right!, HE LOVES HIS HEAD SCRATCHES!!

- Bekki

Jerry & Milo

do you remember Jerry and Milo, the two white kitty cat brothers that were with you for some time? Well we thought we would send you some updated photos of them in their "Forever Home".

Milo has a shaved belly as he had an ultrasound before Christmas to verify the problem with his tummy. He has been diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and he is now on medication to control this. We are happy to inform you that he has put on over 4lbs since he has been with us and is now catching up to his brother. We enjoy them very much and now they are so at home here and have developed very endearing habits.

We do hope that other cats and dogs can find good homes as they certainly deserve it.

Thank you for taking care of "our boys" until they found us. We love them very much.

- Jim & Pam

Nico (Nee Fiddler)

Thanks to all who rescued and took care of Nico (Fiddler) before I adopted her! She took about a week to come out of her shell (and her hiding place) but with lots of love and reassurance she is now a happy playful cat. She loves to check out the world from the safety of the window ledge and play with her little blue mouse toy. She loves to have her belly patted and you can now hear her purr from across the room. She gets more gutsy everyday and I am sure in no time she will be comfortable around other people. Thanks again!

- Sarah

Winnie (Nee Skittles)

Just wanted to give you an update on Winnie, formerly known as Skittles. Winnie has been home for about a month now, and she has adjusted very well. It only took about 4 days before she was cuddling up with us at night. She's a very sweet kitty who loves to snuggle and play. We look forward to many more years with Winnie, Thank you!

- Nicole & Aaron

Indigo

It's ten months since I adopted Indigo and I just wanted to let you know how she's doing after she had been in the shelter so long.

One of her favourite hobbies is to watch the birds at the backyard feeders from the comfort of her scratching/climbing tree. She'd love to get out there to hunt them, but I keep her indoors! Also, my sister and her cat have been staying with us for a while and the two cats love to play tag -- chasing each other all over the house and up and down the stairs. Indigo still likes to play in her little tent and has a big stash of toys to choose from. So she gets a lot of exercise and provides us with a lot of entertainment.

Indigo wouldn't have been a good pet for a family with children because she will still bite if you insist on petting her when she's not in the mood, but she's doing fine in a home with adults only. The biggest news is that she's gradually becoming quite a snuggle-bunny and now quite frequently jumps into laps for a cuddle and loves to sleep on top of me when I'm in bed.

I'm so glad I adopted her and love her to bits, whether she's in clown mode or cuddling or just wants to be left alone. She's my sweetie and I hope all your adoptions are as successful.

- Judy

Misha (nee Cinders)

Back in January '08 I adopted Misha (formely Cinders) from your wonderful organization. What started off as a regular day and an idea to just stop by and see the cats up for adoption, we ended the day with an amazing new family member. She grabbed our attention immediately and we instantly fell in love with her. Misha has brought us all so much joy, and has been a good companion to our 7 year old cat Smokey. Although Smokey tries to make it look as though he doesn't care much for her, we always catching them playing, sleeping and eating together. She is truly like a trouble making little sister to him.

She is extremely playful and loves all her toys, especially the ones that jingle. And she can sometimes get rambunctious by getting into places she knows she shouldn't. But at the end of the day, all she wants to do is sit in your lap, get petted and fall asleep where she knows it's safe.

She has flourished in our family and has grown so big now! We all look forward to spending many more years together as a family, and we thank you for making our family a little larger, and more filled with love.

- Erica

Jack Bauer (nee Rocco) and Abbey (nee Mitchy)

We adopted Jack and Abbey a week ago Sunday. They are the light of our lives and absolutely adore one another. Right from the first night they sleep together and play together. I have attached a picture from their first day with us so you can see how they get along.

Thank you so much for introducing them to us and bringing them into our lives.
